1. Coorg, Karnataka

Right from indulging in adventures like river rafting and trekking up to the highest peak of Tadiandamol, to the picturesque beauty by the waterfalls, the experience is ethereal indeed. Oh and for all the coffee enthusiasts, there are the coffee plantations to visit by!

You can take a road trip from Bangalore which is about 270kms. You can also travel by flight/train, the closest being Mysore airport and railway station.

2. Udaipur, Rajasthan

Monsoons do in fact ignite the romantic streak among one and all. And, if you live your life by the lakes and the beaches, then Udaipur is a treat during monsoons. Udaipur can be reached via flight, from Maharana Pratap Airport, or the Udaipur station itself.

Shimla is the closest station, and Kullu airport is the nearest airport.

New Jalpaiguri is the nearest railway station, and Kolkata is the closest airport. The station is well connected to a number of cities, thereby making your travel easier.

Travelling here is hassle-free with regular passenger ships from Chennai, Vishakhapatnam, and Kolkata. If you want to fly over, then you have flights to its capital, Port Blair airport.

6. Goa

If you’ve not for once been to Goa in the monsoons, there’s something you’ve been missing out on. 7. Lonavala, Maharashtra

For the residents of Mumbai and Pune, Lonavala is like just another random outing. Not very far from both the cities, Lonavala is accessible to Mumbaikars and Punekars very easily via road. And, for all the other people, Lonavala makes for not just one of the so many ideal places to visit in Monsoon, but practically any time of the year. Witness the lush greenery in the ghats and at the Sahyadri Mountains and also experience the waterfalls during the best climate prevalent in Lonavala. Activities here include trekking, horse riding, camping, and some sightseeing!

As mentioned, Lonavala is a 1 hour 45 minutes journey from Mumbai and a 1 hour 26 minutes journey from Pune by road. It has its own station, and trains on this route do halt here, so there’s not much of a hassle either ways!

8. Mount Abu, Rajasthan

The only hill station in Rajasthan, Mount Abu makes for an ideal vacation during any time of the year. During the monsoons, however, the place seems to have been emitting adventure and spiritual vibes just about right. With so much to do and so many places to visit in Mount Abu, there won’t be a single moment of dullness while on your trip here. Right from Dilwar temple, the ruins of the Mewar dynasty, sunset points, the array of lakes or some unmissable sights, Mount Abu is a delight during the rainy seasons.

The easiest and most accessible to visit Mount Abu is its railway stations which is well connected to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur.

9. Kutch, Gujarat

 

For the love of picturesque destinations, and some inner peace, the salt lands are a treat for any traveler. While the Rann of Kutch makes for an ideal visit during Rann Utsav, it also makes into the list of ideal places to visit in monsoon. Submerged in water, the rains make for a view to die for. Indulge in some sightseeing and camping and you’ll know why there isn’t anything like it.

The closest airport to Kutch is Bhuj, and the Kutch express nicely connects via Ahmedabad to Mumbai right upto Gandhidham. Then, there’s the Bhuj railway station too.

10. Kausani, Uttarakhand

Once the monsoons set in, Kausani is a treat to the eyes of the watcher. It gives an up and close look to the Himalayan mountain range and includes the likes of Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Panchchuli. Kasauni is a hill station that is like no other, courtesy the kind of relief it is to the naked eye. Looking at the 350 km stretch of mountains, and the downpour during rains, one is surely enchanted by the look of it.

You can fly off to the Dehradun airport and then take to the road, or you could go to either Kathgodam or Haldwani station. Kasauni has a frequent number of buses coming in and going out to major cities around.

If you can’t stay in a boathouse by the backwater, then take the backwater cruise and see what the lakes, rivers, and canals are like during the season. Highly popular amongst travellers, one can have easy access to the roads. The Cochi Airport is about 75kms away, and Ernakulam is the closest station.
