Taj Mahal

The most obvious and popular tourist places near Delhi for every avid traveler is Agra which is just 200 kms away. With the Yamuna Expressway travel time is reduced to just 3 hours to reach Agra. It is famous for the Taj Mahal. It’s a dream for history buffs with outstanding Mughal and Rajput architecture laced with the flavour of romance. It is truly a photographer’s delight.

If you plan to go to Agra do not miss the incredibly beautiful carvings and architecture at Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri and Itmad-ud-Daula’s Tomb.

Mathura the sacred city is a hot spot of culture and civilization (3000 years old) to rejuvenate your senses. For those interested in Indian religion and mythology, Sri Krishna Janma Bhoomi (Lord Krishna’s birth place) on Vishram Ghat (at the Yamuna Banks), Dwarkadhish Temple and Sati Burj (16th Century) are situated here.

Holi (Indian festival of colors) in Mathura is most popular for tourists due to its typically unique style, vibrancy and rituals attached.

Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary

One of the top tourist places near Delhi is the famous bird sanctuary Bharatpur a part of the Keoladeo (Lord Shiva) Ghana National Park. It is home to various bird species like the, Siberian crane, warblers, kingfishers, hawks and pelicans. The sanctuary is surreal and intensely beautiful at the same time.

A cycle ride bird watching literally is the most recommended way to travel around the sanctuary. Morning is the best time to catch sight of some rare species and then head towards the adjacent Lohagarh Fort (18th century) surrounded by a moat.
