Assam to Ladakh with the following route.

Post by crabby226 » Tue Sep 25, 2018 8:25 pm

A friend is planning Ladakh in May 2019 and travelling from Assam.
His iternary spans from 25 to 30 days.. His trip includes:
East-West Nepal Highway
Pasupati
Kathmandu
Kistwar
Killar
Keylong
Kaza/Spiti
Leh and surrounding areas and back via
Kargil
Srinagar and then AH1 back to Assam.
He wanted to know is this route safe to do during the month of May.
If not what is the best time to do this route and what other places could be added to this itenary?

This is a super plan @crabby226

@gokarna.thapa.magar Can you help with some information about the Nepal leg of the trip?

@crabby226 : May may be a bit dicey with opening of high passes. This year, they have opened sooner than expected because of less snowfall during the winters. This year, with early onset of snowfall and possibly winters in the higher reaches, there may be delays in opening the passes. It would be a bit better to plan it for May-end or June, just to ensure that the plans (and leaves probably) don't go haywire.
