Bangalore to north India

Post by rohit.joshi » Wed Nov 15, 2017 6:24 pm

In Feb 2018, I plan to do my first road trip in santro from Bangalore to Amritsar then to manali and back to Bangalore.

Would required road route and tolls encountered on way...

I know it's long way to go, but I like planning well in advance.

Hey @rohit.joshi

Always good to plan in advance! Have you tried using the road trip planning engine? Why don't you give it a spin? @traveldiaries used it recently to plan his entire Spiti Circuit!

Here is a cheat sheet for you to get started

hey @rohit.joshi

While the usual route would be Bangalore - Hyderabad - Nagpur - Bhopal - Agra - Delhi, you can take this route purely because you can :) Don't worry about the Santro, the roads are spectacular and scenic views would be even better especially in Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Bangalore - Pune - Mumbai - Udaipur - Ajmer - Jaipur - Delhi. Finer details would be on the planner though. Dada, @yayawar we should add tolls soon! :)

Have you introduced yourself to the community? And, welcome here!

Everything is possible but i have a different view here. Part of the fun, the anticipation, the thrill is in the planning and only you would be able to decide what sights you would like to see. There are umpteen sights and likings -wildlife sanctuaries, historical, architecture, gastronomic... If i make a plan for you, then it would be from my perspective and likes. Capiche?

Secondly, and absolutely importantly, the destination is not as important as the journey.

Once you make a rough draft with the excellent planner these gents have put together, i am sure the experts would chip in with suggestions.

Didn't mean to preach, but have spent a sizeable portion of my life not understanding or following my signature line.

Hey @alsameer ,

That's a long one! If you look at the plan you have technically you can reach the next center in one day. So technically speaking in seven days you are going to reach Manali. But here is what I recommend:

1. Goa - 3 days night halt including first day
2. Mumbai - one night halt alone
3. Udaipur - 3 nights including first day of reaching Udaipur
4. Instead of Ajmer, go to Pushkar. Spend 2 nights here. Don't miss the Morrison Cafe
5. Jaipur - 3 nights
6. Delhi - Pass through and instead reach Chandigarh. One night in Chandigarh
7. Manali - 3 nights to explore everything around

Come back to Mysore in 7 days! :)
