The Great Indian Food Trip

Post by royalenfielder » Wed Nov 08, 2017 11:14 am

Say hello to the Great Indian Food Trip! - #GIFT

The Great Indian Food Trip is an exploratory drive by ScoutMyTrip into the hinterlands of India rediscovering some of the most iconic and even lost treasures of Indian cuisine and food.

We start with the Biryani Trail of South India. Universally loved so much that the mere thought is enough to start hunger pangs. So many varieties, so little time. The Great Indian Food Trip starts from Calicut, heads to Bangalore, Chennai and finally ends at the city of Nizams – Hyderabad. We’ll belt over 3500 kms (ex-Mumbai) over a duration of 15 days and we plan to taste 15 Biryanis of South India.

Start Date: End of November (Tentative)

As a community member you can join us on the road trip in two capacities:

1. As a Scout, where you will be the co-driver along with @dpakananth . You will also be navigating, managing the drive.
2. As a blogger, where you would be doing what you do best - chronicle the good times!

For more details and applying in either positions, please check : The Great Indian Food Trip

Join us as we explore the eclectic Indian cuisines, dishes, dhabhas and iconic street food haunts – one highway at a time.

Wishing you loads of biryani :)

The Biryani trail sounds fantastic!! I am sure you would find some great options down south. Next time maybe, you could do a stopover in Kolkata. The biryani at Aminia's, Arsalan, Shiraz.. With the fragrant rice and subtle spices, boiled egg and flavored aloo in tow.. Trust me, it is definitely worth the detour on your trail!! :P :P

Wish I could join the #GIFT.. Happy travels to the foodies who eventually get to go!! :) :)

Yes please. The intent to join (willingness and the mode - Scout or Blogger) needs to be captured.

Hey Srikanth,

The dates are getting pushed a little. Looks most likely in the first or second week of December now. Will keep you posted. Please don't apply for leaves just yet :)

Saumya from RoadToTaste and Himanshu from My Yellow Plate, two North Indian food lovers head south to explore the lesser known South Indian variants of the Biryani on the Great Indian Food Trip with Milton. Joined by scouts Srikanth from TravelDiaries, Deepak and Roadmatix, this promises to be an interesting journey.
