Need some info about Leh - Srinagar

Post by kushal.kumar.uppal » Tue Oct 10, 2017 12:01 pm

We're in Leh at the time being. We will be heading to Srinagar from Leh via Batalik, Pahalgam, Gulmarg. Any suggestions, anything else I can do in the next 3days??

Will be seeing Alchi monastery, sangam point entire Batalik, is there anything else on this route? What can I see or shop in Srinagar other than mogul gardens??

Apart from Alchi.. Likir, Basgo, Phey, Nimmu, Gurudwara Pather Sahib, Magnetic Hill. Check if you can include Lamayuru

If you have a couple of days, you may go till Rungdum in Suru Valley from Kargil. And like you said, Srinagar hasn't just got Mughal Garden.
Shalimar, Nishat, Char Chinar are options you can explore. Around Srinagar - Verinag, Betaab valley, Yushmarg, Doodhpathri are places you can see.

You can also go to Zanskar - Head to Padum from Kargil.. 3 days mad run or 5 days easy. If you're a non-vegetarian please go to Mughal Durbar in Srinagar and try the Wazwan

Hope this helps!

Just to add, to visit the Batalik route, you'd need to get ILP (Inner Line Permits). You can get them from Leh or Kargil DC office. Since you are already at Leh, I'd suggest you get them done.

We visited Sonmarg too, though a small diversion, is definitely worth. So night stay at Pahalgam and travel towards Kargil via Sonmarg. There are some wonderful resorts enroute to Kargil to stay overnight.
Don't worry about what to see in Laddakh region. Looking at the colour changing mountains, selfies by the river and excitement of driving on highest motorable road and other wide and beautiful roads is what you go to Leh for.

Thanks for everything @royalenfielder @yayawar and @sudeepbagaria . We completed this peacefully and got back home a while back. Sorry for the late update though!

You guys rock!
PS: Can we look at organizing a get together sometime?
