My Trip To Hampi

Post by aparnaa » Mon Mar 19, 2018 3:00 pm

“Roads were made for journeys but not for destinations because the greatest part of a road trip isn’t arriving at a destination”.

Being a youngster, it’s always exciting to plan out and get ourselves lost in beautiful places during weekends. Especially for students, long weekends are golden tickets to skedaddle from the work pressure and get to places for some relaxed, fresh air and environment.

So it was during one of such weekend my friends and I decided to plan a road trip to Hampi for 2 days. It was during this time we came across this website called ScoutMyTrip. In my prior road trip experience I have always depended on Google Maps. So coming across this website was very new and useful for me. With the help of this website we planned our trip from Bangalore to Hampi. Through this website we got to know many interesting places to stop by during the travel like Nandi hills, Hospet etc. Our budget was around Rs 4000 to Rs 5000. The website had an option called scouts. So basically they provided us few experts or professionals to help and guide with our plan. It was so helpful. We ourselves used this option. That is, we contacted one of the listed scouts in the website. And he guided us with all the fun activities other than sightseeing that we can do in Hampi. We added all the necessary requirements including hotels to stay, places to visit in and on the way to Hampi in our itinerary and then got everything ready for the big day.

We started our trip by 8:30am in the morning and had our first stop in Nandi hills, we missed the sunrise scene but still we had a good time there. Then our next stop was around evening in the Hospet. There we visited the famous Chitradurga fort. The military architecture was eye drooling and we spent our time there clicking selfies all around the fort. It was so much fun.

From there we reached our destination around 8:30pm in the night. We went directly to the resort in Hippi Island which we found using Scoutmytrip’s trip planning tool. The resort’s name is Sloth bear resort. The place was really good and welcoming.

We started early the next day. We hired scooty to drive around this beautiful small village. The first thing that we did was cliff jumping in Sanapur Lake. We went there early at 7:00am in the morning and had a best swim in the lake after an adventurous cliff jump.

Then we went on a traditional boat ride in the coracle. It was so much fun in there. We dived into the water and had a nice swim again. After 4 hours of fun, we reluctantly drove back to our resort to freshen up and start our architectural sightseeing schedule.

By 12:00 in the noon we got ready and we went directly to Hampi town. First we had lunch in CHILL OUT CAFÉ. Then we went to vijaya vittala temple and Monkey temple. The places and the architecture were breathe taking. We had to climb a lot to reach the temple, especially the Monkey temple. But still it was so much fun to do it with friends.

It was around 6:30 in the evening and we were already tired with all our adventures and sight seeing. So started back to our resort. We had our dinner there. The resort arranged a campfire night. So we had so much fun socialising along with other travellers, especially foreigners over there. We danced, we sang, we narrated stories and finally we bid goodnight to an amazing but tiring day and went to sleep.
The next day started early around 6:00 in the morning. We went on a trek to Matanga hill along with the fellow travellers from our resort who also ended up to be another group from our university. It was a very lucky coincidence. So our group got bigger and it was even more fun with a big group of youngsters. We went for trekking. We reached the top of the hill around 8:30am, relaxed there with the beautiful early morning view. Then by 9:00an we started climbing down. We had our breakfast in a small restaurant near the hill and went back to our resort to freshen up.

We didn’t have much of a plan for the second day. We vacated around 12:00 in the noon. And went to this beautiful place called lotus Mahal.

This Mahal was built in between a very big lawn protected by great walls. It was so calm and peaceful. We loved the architecture and literally were stunned with the beauty of it. We clicked lot of pictures over there. We chilled out there for some time with coconut water, which was available everywhere. Like in all the places, coconut water stall was prominent.

So finally the two days of full adventures, sightseeing, socialising, etc., all the activities came to an end. It was very hard to bid good bye. But without any other choice we left the place around 3:00pm in the afternoon. It was a great experience being there. It’s a must try place for both families and youngsters.

Overall it was an amazing and heartful trip. We had lot of learning in this trip. We did get a refreshing break. Thanks to ScoutMyTrip for such good guidance. I honestly felt very satisfied by using this website. And I would love to suggest the same to my other friend’s as well.
“Hampi was turned to ruins in the history. But the ruins scream about the unread pages of history which are now buried in dust and left behind are the mysterious and untold stories.

Hi @aparnaa .

Loved reading your post. I'm also planning a trip to Hampi. From your experience what are the places that are a "must visit"? And do you think 2 days is enough to cover the places?

hello @ravi.thakur
The best places to visit in Hampi would be vijaya vitala temple, Matunga temple, Achyutharaya temple, and lotus Mahal. These places are known for their architecture. But other than sight seeing u can also do lots of adventurous activities there like cliff jumping, trekking , coracle ride, etc as mentioned in my articles. It would be more fun if you go with friends. And book resorts in Hippi island because its pretty cheap and good over there.
