Indore to Kathmandu drive

Post by rohit.joshi » Mon May 28, 2018 8:23 am

Hello friends and awesome drivers :)

Has anyone driven in their own car from Indore to Kathmandu? If not maybe from MP / Delhi to Kathmandu?

My relatives are planning to do so in Dec. Your help and planning will be appreciated.

Regards.
Rohit

Hey Rohit!

Yes I have done this from Delhi last year.

This was our route:

Delhi - Lucknow - Gorakhpur - Kathmandu

All the info you need is here in this blog post: Nepal Road trip Route Plan

@gokarna.thapa.magar is an Scout in Nepal and he can help you more on this!

We've done this stretch too in 2016. When you reach the Nepal border from Gorakhpur, there is a parking on the right hand side. Will also have some shops etc. Ask for one Mullaji there, and he will get your permissions done. He can also help you with SIM Cards (you will need the passport copy for this), currency (better to keep a little Nepali rupiya) and free advice and chai.

Wish you all the best!

@royalenfielder Read the post you shared! Really nice to hear that a team from scoutmytrip went to Nepal. Why didn't you go to Pokhra as well?

Thanks @ruchika.tuli1 !

We couldn't go to Pokhra for time. We had a gig with OYO rooms and only Kathmandu was on the cards. Next time, we will keep some 10 days just for Nepal. Have you check the everest base camp trek we recently started?
