Section 144 in the mountain areas and what to do in such situations

Post by tsering.zopta1 » Mon Jun 25, 2018 11:28 am

This is a recent development. Sec 144, weapon ban in Kasol, Manikaran

Section 144 imposed in Kasol, Manikaran and Jari areas as Kullu administration is all set to seal the illegal hotels/restaurants and to stop drug trading. Section 144 has been imposed for an indefinite period starting from June 25th, 2018.

Everyone travelling towards that area please confirm and re-confirm your hotel bookings to avoid inconvenience.

Many hotels are operating with more inventories then they have registered with. Some hotels are registered as homestays where the maximum rooms allowed is 6 but operating with more then 15-20 rooms. But there is nothing to worry if you are planning through operators like ScoutMyTrip. ScoutMyTrip operates with hotels which are properly registered with HPTDC and operating on fully regulated policies. There are lot many places in HP which are beautiful, offbeat, unaffected by the section 144 and also there is nothing to panic when you're planning the trip through renowned operators / companies.

While there are self drive car rentals available and even hotels on popular websites, but I think having a well experienced planner like scoutmytrip is going to be important. Cannot emphasis more on the importance of local connects in such situations

I could see that coming for Kasol. With Malana village stopping any night halt and selling the 'cream' to visitors, Kasol had become hub of activities and it was already too crowded with Israelite and Indians alike looking for 'Nirvana'. Good that it has happened.

However, the fact remains that Himachal is not just Kasol. Lot many more beautiful places are waiting to be explored. :)
