I am evaluating between Ladakh and Spiti for winters this year. We recently got a Scorpio S11 and we must thank @dpakananth for his review of the car on the road trip to Bangalore. Helped us decide in favour of this car compared to other options.
We have not done too much of offroading before but we want something which is somewhere between easy and moderate. Both us are also attending some basic courses on off roading. There is one which teaches on Thars and Gorkhas here where we live.
Please let us know what we can consider or should we look at North east?

Re: Winter Spiti / Ladakh
If you want to do Winter Ladakh, target February. It's then that the Pangong Lake and Tso Moriri Lake will be completely frozen. But you don't have the option to bring your car as you will need to fly in to Leh.
For Spiti, target November-December. Again you might not be able to reach some places because of heavy snow.
So, that brings us to the best doable destination- North East. Plan your trip anywhere from November to March. Few interesting places: Mawphalnur, Mawllynnong, Along, Mechuka, Doparijo, Ziro, Mishmi Hills, Dambuk, Stillwell road, Majuli, Kaziranga, Chandubi.

Re: Winter Spiti / Ladakh
Thank you so much @soumen ! You have been of great help indeed!
I saw that there is a Winter Spiti Package mentioned on the website and we have decided to go ahead with this. Both my husband and I feel that we should leave something like this to experts.
