Hey travelers! Welcome to our second post of #TravelTalkWithNeha. This time, I spoke to someone I met during last year’s #HighestBloggersMeet in Ladakh. Someone who impressed me very much, as he has created a name for himself in the blogging world in such a short time. Let’s see what Johann has to share with us!
#TravelTalkWithNeha: In Conversation With Johann Binny Kuruvilla
1) How did you decide to become a travel blogger?
I started traveling in 2015. It wasn’t until one day in the middle of the night I wrote down a travelogue of a trip I made to North East India and published it on Facebook. All my friends on my timeline responded to this note and commented saying I should start a blog and inspire people. That’s how I began to travel blogging. So in Feb 2016, I started writing down all my travel experiences through my blog until one day I decided, I had enough of my corporate job. I quit and took up travel blogging as a full-time profession.
2) What is it like being the only travel blogger from Kerala?
I don’t know of many travel bloggers from Kerala. I have been always on the lookout for similar like-minded people to grow my network. There are a few like Abhi Surendran from Calicut. As the only person from Kochi, I’m hoping I could be an inspiration to the many out there.
3) Do you have one favorite picture from your travels?
This is the view I saw from Zero Point (Yumesamdong) in Sikkim; the view changed my perception of how fragile and small our life really is in front of tall mountains. Like the quote, “You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world” It was this view that inspired me to go out and see the world and to experience every bit of life out there.
4) What are your tips for other travel bloggers who want to travel and work around the world?
I have had this question being asked to me a lot of times and all the times I tell everyone, find your passion and work hard for it. There are going to be a lot of ups and also a lot more downs in the process but if you really hold on to your passions then you would find them all as progress in the grand scheme of things.
5) Tell us about your ideal road trip.
My ideal road trip would be cruising along a lonely highway with loud music playing with mountains and hills in the background but all of this wouldn’t matter when you have the best company with you. It is always the journey that matters than the destination.
