Nepal Road Trip With The Community

This blog post is part one of our Nepal road trip in the month of May. We talk about everyone who was on our Nepal road trip (Kathmandu and back).

India has approximately 300,000+ Km of roads , a lot of them unexplored, leading to beautiful places & wonderful destinations hitherto unseen and often unheard! My view has always been that we need to explore the local roads and destinations before trying to explore outside the country. But when we were requested to take 6 members from our community from Delhi to Kathmandu (Nepal) for an epic road trip, I couldn’t say no!

Let me start by introducing the community.

The Captains for the Nepal Road Trip

Vineet Rajan

The Co- founder of ScoutMyTrip. A full stack marketer and self-proclaimed Marketing Guru, his claim to fame is that he has 2 faces – a serious one and an even more serious one! I henceforth christen him OMPF (pronounced oomph!) – Our Man of Perpetual Frown not just for the Nepal road trip, but all our future ones!

Deepak Ananth

Me. Also the Co-founder of ScoutMyTrip,  Supremely humble, with a brilliant sense of humour, excellent road skills , driver, photographer, foodie, incredible human being, Did I mention humble?

The Community on the Nepal Road Trip

Deepak Amembal

Fondly called Sir Magiceye for his incredible photography skills, Deepak is an immensely likeable person, who makes friends like a vada pav vendor in Mumbai – quickly and leaves you feeling fulfilled! He was the oldest in the group (only by age) but definitely one of the fittest on our Nepal road trip!

Sudipto De

A surgeon by profession, a connoisseur of wines and anything alcoholic (must be the times he spent in the labs while studying), writes about food almost as passionately as he devours it. Can speak on almost any subject in the world with authority when he chooses to, and people listen!  Infamous for photo bombing all pictures taken by others

Ami Bhat

Mom, wife, accomplished writer, even writes for The Lonely Planet but Ami cannot navigate as we found out during our road trip. She did attribute that to her faulty phone, which she immediately destroyed by dropping it in a bucket of water after returning. She was also our DJ and is an accomplished dancer, loves photographing architecture and monuments and is great at gathering information about a place from varied sources.

Saumya Rai

The baby of the group. Loves Lucknow and everything about the city, she was our guide into the food trail of the city. Super fun and garrulous, Saumya can make almost anyone laugh (except our OMPF). Apart from this she is a brilliant photographer and a social media queen!

Ankit Sharma

The GoPro Man! Seen along most highways holding a selfie stick connected to a Go Pro and clicking some amazing pics and videos of the vistas. Night animal, gets extra energy when exploring the city involves going there after sunset!

Ayushi Anand

The stylist, a fashion and travel blogger, who is seen sashaying in front of monuments and making it look even better than it actually does! Ayushi loves her sleep! But when awake, her willingness to try things to do during a trip is legendary! Another night animal, she loves exploring the sights and sounds during the night.

So these are the 8 people who set out on our Nepal Road Trip. As in any movie, we have introduced the characters. While I write the next leg of this true story, I wait with bated breath for the very caustic comments from this team, putting me back in my place! Guys, remember my sense of humor!

ROFL – This is by far one of the most comical descriptions of the partners in crime. Loved reading this and reliving some of the moments from our trip. Thank you Deepak and Vineet for such an awesome time.
