Pushkar Fair
When: October 28, 2017 to November 4, 2017
Where: Pushkar, Rajasthan
The fair is held every year near Pushkar lake and is one of the biggest livestock trading event. Camels, horses and cattle are showcased and traded during the fair which starts off with a popular camel fair. Rajasthani folk performances and local markets are other attractions at the event. If you are visiting the fair, you must also check out the Brahma temple, the only one of its kind in India.
Bali Jatra
When: November 6 – 10, 2017
Where: Cuttack, Odisha
Odisha has a rich tradition of maritime prowess and Odia mariners have been travelling to far-off lands like Bali, Java, Sumatra etc. The Bali Jatra, or Voyage to Bali, is a celebration of the day when the mariners would embark on their voyage. Paradeep and Bhubaneshwar also have celebrations, but it has traditionally been held on the Gadagadia Ghat on the Mahanadi river in Cuttack. Do not forget to try out the pithas, thunkapuri and non-veg delicacies of local Odia cuisine when at the festival.
Wangala Festival
When: November 9 – 11, 2017
Where: Asananggre, Near Tura, Meghalaya
Misi Saljong is the deity of agriculture, who is thanked by the Garos in this post-harvest festival in Meghalaya. Also known as the 100 Drums festival, the event has locals dressed up in their finest festive clothes, dancing to the rhythmic beats of the Nagara, Buffalo Horn trumpets and flutes. If you are planning a trip to the beautiful state of Meghalaya, you must try going now to witness one of the most amazing events in November.
Araku Valley Balloon Festival
When: November 14 – 16, 2017
Where: Araku Valley, Near Vizag, Andhra Pradesh
Imagine clear blue skies, dotted with colorful hot air balloons. That would be the exact view over the gorgeous Araku Valley. The 3 day festival will see participants from many countries armed displaying their beautiful balloons. If there ever was a time to visit the hidden gem near Vizag, the festival is it, when you can experience the region at its best.
Rann Utsav
When: November 1, 2017 – February 28, 2018
Where: Rann of Kutch, Gujarat
Rann Utsav, or the Celebration of the Rann of Kutch, is the apt name of the showcasing of the culture and natural beauty of the stunning salt desert.
