#1. Dudhsagar Waterfalls, Goa

Talk about waterfalls and how can we miss out on Goa? For those who thought Goa is just about beaches, read on. Touted to be one of the largest waterfalls in India, this qualifies as a romantic getaway. Not only is it a visual treat during the monsoons, but its location perfectly adds to the holiday vibe. Heighted at about 1017 feet, the gush of water flowing down is the fastest during monsoons. It rests on the Mandovi River and makes for a great spot to hang around for a bit.

It is located about 60 kms from Panaji, 60 kms from Belgaum and about 46 kms from Madagaon. You can visit the place during November to February if you decide on winters, or if you want to hang around during monsoons, it is June to September.

The Elephant falls in Shillong are one of the most touristy hubs around there, so much so that even the locals don’t miss out on a visit to the falls. It flows in three sections, which along with nature’s beauty around makes it a visual sight. This is one such waterfall in India that you wouldn’t want to miss for the world, after all, there’s a reason it has so much footfall.

The falls have got a viewing space which is situated at a distance, and well, let’s just say you’d get to more than just look at the waterfall. Through its 335 m fall, the thuds and noises would be music to your ears. And of course, a memory for your sight for you’d hold it with you for a lifetime.

The falls are about 128 kms from the Guwahati Airport. If you want to travel by road, then NH 40 is what you’ll be looking at. The ideal time to visit would be from November to February.

#4. Kune Falls, Maharashtra

Maharashtra is sited to be a state which has got quite a few jungles, commercial ones though, but not all of it is like this. Though the Kune Falls come under those waterfalls in India come alive during monsoons, it totally feels worth the weight owing to the serenity that the view offers. It is a 3 tiered waterfall, about 200 meters high, and one look at them shall leave you spellbound.

You can travel from Pune by road, and you’d be hitting it off just perfectly. A perfect time for a visit to the Kune falls would be during mid-monsoon in the state.

#5. Soochipara Falls, Kerala

This one out of the many waterfalls in India is more of a family picnic spot, or for the lovers of trekking. Also known as the Sentinel rock waterfalls, it is situated in Vellarimala village, about 23 kms from Kalpetta. Because one can have easy access and also indulge in some rock climbing, it turns out to be a great spot for rock climbers.

An ideal time to visit here is June to September and it is at a distance of about 2 kms from Elevayal junction.

#6. Bhagsu Waterfalls, Himachal Pradesh

There’s never enough that one can ever have of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the closest that one can get to nature, and the waterfalls in India are, after all, one of the many ways. For anyone visiting Mcleod Ganj, the Bhagsu waterfalls are a mandate on the itineraries. For those who want to go to the Himalayas and look for a holy shrine, you might as well take a ride to the Bhagsu waterfalls, and you’ll thank us later. It is an averagely heighten fall, but it isn’t close to an average looking view.

The closest Airport is Gaggal airport, while the stations nearest include Kangra and Nagrota. Summers or the monsoons make for an ideal visit here, which makes it between June to September.

#7. Athirapally Waterfalls, Kerala

One of the largest waterfalls in Kerala, the Athirapally falls are an ideal monsoon visit. One might be totally stunned by the sight at first. Not only are the waterfalls a visual beauty, but as the water gushes down, the grounds are home to a variety of species. If you’re lucky enough you might even spot Langurs, Turtles, Hornbills, etc. There’s love at first sight, and then there comes a peace at first sight, and that’s about that.

It is about 30 kms from Chalakudi station and the nearest airport is the Kochi International Airport. Monsoons make for an ideal visit –June to September.

#8. Shivanasamudra Falls, Karnataka

Listed among the second largest waterfalls in India, for any nature enthusiast, the Shivanasamudra waterfalls are a must to be place. The waterfall divides into two branches gradually, the Eastern and the Western. Through its due course over the hills and the rocks, it homes a huge deal of flora and fauna, courtesy the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary. Since there’s so much to spot, and if the description gives you a view that is pretty enough, we don’t see why one wouldn’t want t to be here at some point of time.

Bangalore is the closest Airport, why Maddur the nearest station. For those trying to do some backpacking and travelling via road, there are buses from Mysore. June to October would make for a good time to visit the waterfalls in Karnataka.

#9. Bhimlat Falls, Rajasthan

For those who picture deserts, and hot sunny afternoons with a colder night, let us give you a picture of how the Bhimlat Falls look like. Not having to mention, it sure casts its spell in full power during the monsoons, the falls mustn’t be missed. So, if you’re planning to go to Rajasthan sometime, do visit Bundi for the sole purpose of getting such a sight in there. Trust me when I say it, it is nothing short of a natural solace. Not too high and large, but the 60m waterfall suffices to give you the right feels..

Kota is the nearest Airport while one can reach as quickly via the Chittor Road. Monsoon prevails during June to October, which makes it a good time for your visit.

#10. Hebbe Falls, Karnataka

Yet another waterfall of India that is a great tourist attraction for anyone who visits the state. It is located in the Chikmagalur district and offers coffee plantations along with the setting of dense forests. For coffee lovers, when you’re around here, coffee is in the air! There’s not just one around here, but the one close by is touted to be having medicinal properties. So, coffee, some plantations and good view, what else does one want when travelling?

You’ve got Bangalore Airport or various bus and road routes to travel by! June to October is an ideal time to visit the Hebbe Falls, courtesy the monsoon. But, be careful with what amount of crowd you might get there!
