1. Kolad, Maharashtra

Kolad is a scenic village in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. With beautiful valleys and natural beauty, Kolad is a great place to relax and recharge on holiday, and is most famous for white water rafting. Monsoon is the best time to try this exhilarating activity, so why not make it a work trip with your adrenaline junkie teammates?

Best time to visit : Drive down to Kolad for a long weekend during the rainy season, and be as adventurous as you please!

2. Gokarna, Karnataka

Many travelers describe Gokarna as a cleaner, less crowded, and better version of Goa. This wonderful beach paradise is a favorite for beach bums, and is also, interestingly, a Hindu pilgrimage site. You will find many people traveling there to visit the temples, for religious or architectural reasons, or both! There are also many expats and foreign tourists in Gokarna. There is a very idyllic vibe in Gokarna and life moves very slowly. If you love beaches and want a trip that’s all about relaxation and rejuvenation, Gokarna is the place to be.

Best time to visit : October to March is a great time to road trip with colleagues at Gokarna. Even a long weekend will work wonders!

3. Kasol, Himachal Pradesh

Kasol is a very happening destination in Parvati Valley. It’s a beautiful hill station with a plethora of fun things to do. If you are an adventurous team, Kasol is a great option to travel with co-workers to, because you can go hiking and trekking and generally getting your adrenaline rush on! Another interesting thing about Kasol is that it’s called mini Israel due to the abundance of Israelis who live here or come on vacation. In fact, you will see many shops and stores have Hebrew signage as well.

Best time to visit : March to May is great in terms of weather, but otherwise Kasol is a fantastic year-round destination.

4. Auli, Uttarakhand

Auli is most popular as a skiing destination. You can also hike or trek in Auli, and visit the beautiful apple orchards and old, thickly wooded forests. It’s a dreamy locale and you around bound to lose track of time here, just soaking in the natural beauty. There are many ski resorts in Auli, so whether you are a newbie or a pro, you are bound to find a slope that suits you and make memories when you travel with co-workers.

Best time to visit : December to February are the best times if you want to ski. Otherwise, summer months have pleasant and relatively temperate weather.

5. Ooty, Tamil Nadu

Ooty is one of the most popular hill stations in India, and with good reason. Wonderful climate, scenic beauty, local culture, tea estates and numerous waterfalls are just a few of the things Ooty has to offer. If you’re looking for a trip that offers rest and relaxation, Ooty is the place to be. Walking around the city centre and soaking in the wonderful architecture is also worth experiencing. Don’t forget to bring back local tea, herbal oils and small-batch chocolates!

Best time to visit : All year round! October to June is the most pleasant though. If you wish, you can check out the Tea and Tourism Festival dates and plan your trip accordingly.

6. Coonoor, Tamil Nadu

Located quite close to Ooty, Coonoor is a relatively offbeat and less explored hill station. It is no less in terms of beauty though. However, being less crowded, it is much more relaxed. You could spend hours with just your team, without seeing another soul. It’s a great way to bond on a work trip when you travel with co-workers.

Best time to visit : Like Ooty, even Coonoor is great all year round! October to June is the most pleasant though.

7. Rishikesh, Uttarakhand

Rishikesh is a spiritual hotspot and is quickly becoming a hub for adventure sports. River rafting, bungee jumping, mountain biking and many more activities do well as team building activities on a work trip. If you’re interested in trekking or hiking, Rishikesh is a popular base. Camping is Rishikesh is also a must try. Overall, it is a pretty unique destination that combines spirituality, adventure, camping and local culture, so visit from that point of view and you’ll come away with a new appreciation of Rishikesh.

Best time to visit : It really depends on what activities you want to try. October to May is great for white water rafting. Summer is a good time if you don’t want it to be too cold when you visit. The Yoga Festival happens in March.

8. Darjeeling, West Bengal

One of the most popular hill stations in the country, Darjeeling has an old-world charm that enchants you every time, no matter how many times you’ve visited. The beautiful hills, local culture and tea plantations are a sight for sore eyes. You can try authentic Tibetan and Nepali cuisine here too. Darjeeling is also a very popular honeymoon destination. There are so many things to see and do here, you won’t ever be bored!

Best time to visit : Spring and autumn, for sure. Winter gets too cold, unless this is something you really want to experience. However, for a work trip, pick a time when the majority would be comfortable. When you travel with co-workers, look out for everyone’s choices. Spring, from March to May, is ideal.

9. Mahabaleshwar, Maharashtra

Another wonderful long weekend destination, Mahabaleshwar is a crowd favorite for people in Mumbai and Pune. It is so well known for it’s wonderful strawberries, that everyone makes it a point to try strawberries and cream every time they visit. Dense forests, waterfalls, hills, valleys, reserves, and lakes; there’s something for everyone here when you travel with co-workers. This is definitely a tourist town and you will find many shops selling souvenirs that you can take back home. In fact, the Mapro factory on the way back to Mumbai is also a must visit, with organic food and a vegetable garden within their premises. And of course, strawberries and cream!

Best time to visit : Anytime except monsoons. During this time, landslides and mudslides are likely, so stay away for safety reasons.

10. Coorg, Karnataka

Are you a bunch of coffee lovers? Then what better than Coorg for a road trip with colleagues! Drive around visiting the spice and coffee plantations, try out a few guided tours if you wish. A popular hill station with great views and climate, the coffee and cocoa plantations sets Coorg apart from the rest. The winding roads uphill add to the experience. Planning a coffee-centric trip to a hill station may be offbeat, but it is definitely an experience to remember! Apart from that, it does have exotic scenery and cloud covered fields, which adds a whole new layer to a beautiful locale.
